We would like to welcome you here in Skagen as our guest. In order to show you, that this place is a world of fine balance between nature and man. The nature here is so unique and hold so strong powers that man often seem tiny in its presence.

When you should come to visit Skagen is all about who you are and what you want your vacation to be about. This is due to the fact, that all seasons here are different in its own way.

In short it can be said that spring arrives when the thousands of birds travelling to their summer home arrives. It´s a beautiful sight and as you see them leave, you know that the days will get longer, the grass greener and the summer won´t be that far away.

There is around 322 different kinds of birds species that pass by Skagen during the year, so you´ll always be able to find a bird you haven´t seen before, provided you stay patient and concentrated in your search.

In summertime the city is buzzing and full of life, you could spend hours watching paintings, listening to music or just being out there in nature, it´s yours for the taking, to decide how you spend the day. But spend it well, because like days in a lifetime, every day is unique an just the way you made it.

In autumn we see the birds return again, they are travelling back to their winter home, and tell us, that the days are getting shorter, the winter with it`s storms are under way and it´s time for reflection and thoughs in good company.

All year you can go to see the work of the many artists that have been inspired by the town, people and nature here. You can see the mighty sand dunes - the biggest in northern Europe - Råbjerg Mile - and the second biggest in Denmark - Sandmilen.

If you wish to know more about Skagen, we suggest that you take a look at paintings made by Krøyer, Tuxen, Ancher and the many other well known artist that have made their mark on this part of the world. Their legacy is a vital part of Skagen and like the sea that rolls to the shore, they´re eternal in their art.
